On behalf of Emaar Properties, I led the creative strategy and experience redesign for The Dubai Mall mobile application. The client was seeking a look & feel and user experience that reflected the refined style that occupants in-mall are greeted with. To accomplish this, I oversaw the content management, brand guidelines, UX guidelines, and visual design specifications of the app. This included communicating with top fashion labels who would benefit directly from the app’s content delivery.
A templated design driven by a back-end CMS, marketing teams can tailor a user’s splash loader around events, dates, and promotions.
The UI was designed to balance an overall elevated identity of The Dubai Mall, with personalized features that enables each brand to celebrate their own photography and color choices through promotions and profile screens.
A custom color scheme merged with a user friendly store / restaurant interface enables a greater content rich experience within the mall for occupants over the Apple and Google Map experiences.
With over 1300+ clients, The Dubai Mall has a significant challenge of organizing and coordinating events—simultaneously communicating these events to the public. A new UI calendar display enables users to plan ahead before visiting the mall.
Across the experience was a defined modular set of proportions. As the mall comprises over 1300+ retailers and restaurants, a modular solution was necessary to ensure all assets across the experience could be updated efficiently.
